This symposium examines how artificial intelligence can make students’ thinking visible within chemistry learning, while also addressing the emerging ethical challenges of AI-supported education. By incorporating pre-questioning, predictive reasoning, and reflective analysis, we examine how AI tools can serve as scaffolds—rather than shortcuts—to enhance students’ scientific inquiry. Bringing together international educators, this forum will showcase classroom case studies, assessment redesign, and discussions of risks such as over-reliance or unauthorized AI use. Through shared experiences and collaborative insights, the session aims to develop practical, ethical, and sustainable strategies for integrating AI into undergraduate chemistry education.
