Presentation Formats

Oral Presentation

This format lets you make a 20-minute presentation of your own work and then there’s a discussion where the session chairperson will be the moderator. It is recommended that you spend 15 minutes on the presentation and 5 minutes on answering questions at the end. For those who are not experienced in presenting at international conferences you may find this link useful.

Symposia and Panel Discussions

Each symposium will be organized by a chairperson and consist of four (4) presentations on a common topic of interest and a discussion session.

A panel discussion is a structured discussion between four to five participants, guided by a chairperson. The participants respond to questions or topics posed by the chairperson, and the discussion focuses on the points of view shared by the participants, exploring possibilities for expansion or further exploration of the topic, and considering different perspectives.

Symposium/panel contributors must be affiliated with institutions in a minimum of three (3) different countries. The person responsible for organising the symposium/panel will also act as chairperson.

The organiser is responsible for submitting the symposium/panel title and an abstract for the overall symposium/panel, as well as providing the name and contact details of the participants. Please note that the abstracts of the individual presentations on the symposium must be submitted by their authors. For the symposia, an extended abstract (500 words max) including a title, keywords, relevant references, tables, and figures, must be submitted. After the presentations the discussant is expected to lead the discussion on the topic by referring to the presented research.

Poster Presentation

Poster sessions provide an opportunity for more in-depth, individual interaction and discussion. Each poster presentation is to feature a graphic display of a good practice example or research study, sized 80cm x 120cm in vertical format. It is imperative that authors are available for a question-and-answer session, which is to be held in the vicinity of the poster displays. Posters should be hung in the morning of the day of the poster exhibition and kept in place until the end of the poster presentation session on the same day. For those who are not experienced in creating a better poster you may find this link useful.

Workshops

Workshops and demonstrations allow presenters to showcase, explain, and familiarize participants with an innovative approach, teaching and learning method or tool. While these sessions may include a brief introduction, the main focus is on interactivity, reflective discussion and co-creation. If you need any special room, equipment or chemicals, please contact the conference organisers when you submit your proposal.
